Action to build back better: the UN general debate continues
25 Sep 2020 -  The Pope, presidents and prime ministers were among the leaders who addressed the United Nations as it continued its annual high-level debate. With unprecedented arrangements set in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 75th annual session featured discussion of how to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges. From the perspective of different regions, leaders shared ideas for solutions amid a general consensus on the need for a strong United Nations. Beyond the General Assembly, there were special events on human rights as well as a meeting of the Security Council on the new UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS). The six-day debate runs from 22-26 September and 29 September.
