17 Jul 2017 -  Event on “World Youth Skills Day 2017: Skills for the Future of Work” (on the occasion of the World Youth Skills Day (15 July)) (co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Portugal and Sri Lanka, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Youth and the International Labour Organization (ILO))
With improved education outcomes, relevant skills and competencies, and access to decent jobs, youth can help accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, fostering a prosperous, sustainable and equitable socio-economic environment for all.
This event celebrated the 2017 World Youth Skills Day, focusing on best practices and strategies to address and meet future skills needs and ensure that young people across the globe can seize the employment opportunities provided by the digital economy.
Emphasis was put on digital skills and related joint work in particular with regard to the Digital Skills Campaign of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth.
