Press Briefing by Permanent Representative of Angola
9 Nov 1994 -  Afonso Van Dunem "Mbinda", Permanent Representative of Angola, states that the Angolan government and National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) have agreed to enter into talks to achieve a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Angola. He indicates that UNITA occupies parts of Angola to separate Angola into states, which makes the Angolan government continue to use military force, while they are actually striving for peace. And he emphasizes that UNITA should turn into political force, and mentions that the Angolan government now has almost full control of the country. He is confident about the Lusaka Protocol because it took years to be initialed.
