9 Oct 2012 -  International Letter-writing Competition for Young People (2012)
The Universal Postal Union (UPU) organizes the International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People annually.
The competition was created by the 1969 Tokyo Congress and officially launched in 1971. Since then, millions of young people all over the world, up to age 15, have participated in the competition at national and international levels.

2012 Theme
The theme is: "Write a letter to an athlete or sports figure you admire to explain what the Olympic Games mean to you". The Olympic Movement seeks to create a better world through sports, by promoting the universal values of excellence, friendship and respect. With these values in mind, young letter-writers are invited to express their thoughts on what the Olympic Games, which are being organized in 2012, mean to them.
