Women and the Origins of the UN - A Southern Legacy
22 May 2018 -  This event aims to discuss the contributions of female actors from developing countries at the origins of the international multilateral system, as well as to connect this history with present day challenges and opportunities, such as the efforts being undertaken to strengthen gender parity and to implement the 2030 Agenda.
This panel is an opportunity to acknowledge important historical contributions from women from the South. It also offers the possibility of reflecting about the current challenges related to gender empowerment and to the inclusion of women. It could also build bridges and point to new opportunities of cooperation between all actors, from the North and from the South, from governments, the UN and civil society, in favor of a more inclusive international system.
