De Montfort University and the United Nations Together
10 Jan 2018 -  DMU led a summit that seeks to empower young people in higher education across the world to work together to promote respect, safety and dignity for all refugees and migrants.
Universities from all continents have been invited to participate in the UN Together programme, creating an international network of universities committed to finding ways to successfully integrate refugees into communities, while spreading messages of tolerance and understanding.
The summit at the United Nations will debate the current international crises, what role higher education can play to challenge the problems the refugee community faces and agree a strategy that universities can take forward together to change attitude in communities and to counter the rise in xenophobia and discrimination.
The summit will conclude with all partner universities signing a declaration that pledges their support to the UN Together campaign and a commitment to take forward the ideas established during the debate.
