New Judge from India sworn in at ICJ
19 Jun 2012 -  Judge Dalveer Bhandari (India) is sworn in as new Member of the ICJ by making the solemn declaration provided for in Article 20 of the Statute of the Court. Owing to the renovation of the Great Hall of Justice of the Peace Palace, where the Court usually sits, this public sitting was held in the auditorium of the Hague Academy of International Law, whose building is adjacent to the Peace Palace. Dalveer Bhandari was elected Member of the Court by the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations on 27 April 2012, following the resignation of Mr. Al-Khasawneh (Jordan). Mr. Bhandari will hold office for the remainder of Judge Al-Khasawneh’s term, which will expire on 5 February 2018.
