Global Partnership Initiatives and Sustainable Development: The GPIs contribution to the SDGs, Plenary Sessions, Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development, 21-23 March 2018, Bonn, Germany
22 Mar 2018 -  The Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) promotes the principles of effective development cooperation and aims to advance the effectiveness of development efforts by involving all relevant stakeholders. A network of 28 Global Partnership Initiatives (GPIs) contributes to the work of the GPEDC. They offer catalytic support to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 globally and at country level. GPIs are a mechanism for exchanging knowledge and lessons learned on the implementation of the development effectiveness principles. As such, GPIs contribute to the SDG by directly implementing commitments and by generating evidence, sharing policy-relevant lessons and innovative solutions that can foster mutual accountability and that strengthen multi-stakeholder approaches. GPIs exist in a variety of sectors, covering issues like aid transparency, resource mobilization or triangular cooperation. The session presents an update on the global discussion on development effectiveness. It shows insights on the work of some of the Global Partnership Initiatives and on how the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) contributes to the Agenda 2030 and the SDG. In the presence of key stakeholders of the Global Partnership, the session offers opportunities to learn about the work of the GPIs on sustainable development at country level and to engage with the GPI members for further knowledge exchange on best practices of effective development cooperation.
