15 Dec 2014 -  Children, Sport and Development - CRC@25: achievements and looking to post-2015
co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Italy and Jamaica, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) and the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children (SRSG-VAC))

The event explores the ways sport can act as a crucial means to alleviate the condition of children that live in conflict areas, violence or extreme poverty. It also consider how sports, being a means of empowerment of children, may foster development while also being aware of the risks their participation can present. It thus represents an important issue of debate in the run up to finalization of the post-2015 development agenda.
