Empowering persons with disabilities and building inclusive societies: Right to education, freedom of expression and access to information, participation in and enjoyment of culture (COSP11 Side Event)
13 Jun 2018 -  The event will explore ways of ensuring the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities in society on an equal basis with others with a special focus on the right to education, freedom of expression and access to information, as well as participation in and enjoyment of culture. Speakers will share concrete examples and best practices on mainstreaming inclusion across different sectors and ensuring the empowerment of persons with disabilities through education and employment.

The event will feature also recent findings and documents on inclusive education and information accessibility issues. Recognizing the transformative power of art in creating sustainable, inclusive and resilient societies, where persons with disabilities fully realize their talent and potential, the panel will also highlight the cultural rights of persons with disabilities to participate in cultural and artistic activities.
