Infrastructure, Cities and Local Action - Seizing the Urban Opportunity, Climate Action Summit 2019
22 Sep 2019 -  In order to ensure that the transformative actions in the real economy are as impactful as possible, the Secretary-General has prioritized "Cities and Local Action" as one of the six action portfolios, which are recognized as having high potential to curb greenhouse gas emissions and increased global action on adaptation and resilience. Cities and Local Action: advancing mitigation and resilience at urban and local levels, with a focus on new commitments on low-emission buildings, mass transport and urban infrastructure; and resilience for the urban poor. Demonstrate, through strong evidence-based narrative, the case for national leadership to deliver zero carbon urban transition that fuels economic development while reducing poverty and inequality and helping to avert climate catastrophe.
