The UN system as a catalyst for climate action: Promoting sustainable low-carbon development - Climate Change Conference (COP 19, Warsaw, Poland)
This high-level event, hosted by the UN Secretary-General, as Chair of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB), featured an interactive dialogue among Parties to the Convention, the private sector and UN system leaders to demonstrate how the UN system supports countries in the implementation of solutions for climate action that yield economic, social, environmental and long-term developmental benefits. It showcased innovative UN system partnerships with governments, the private sector, local communities and other stakeholders that can be replicated and taken to scale for promoting domestic job growth, enhancing energy, water and food security; improving public health; advancing equity, including gender equality; and safeguarding development for current and future generations.
Mr. Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General; H.E. Mr. Marcin Korolec, President of COP-19; and Ms. Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC, participated in this event.
