The Cruel Legacy of Slavery and a Vision for the Future
3 Dec 2019 -  At the UN’s Ark of Return memorial, members of the United Nations Congressional Black Caucus were joined by Academy Award-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou, who reflected on the transatlantic slave trade’s cruel history and offered a vision for the future.

The Ark of Return, by Haitian-American architect Rodney Leon, was unveiled on 25 March 2015, which marks the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The memorial, located at the United Nations Plaza in New York, invites visitors to contemplate the legacy of the slave trade and to fight against racism and prejudice today.
