Dubai Space Forum: Satellite technology can help in emergency response to natural disasters
22 Nov 2016 -  Satellite imagery can help to enhance disaster preparedness and in effect, help mitigate the effects of natural disasters, according to a senior official of United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Luc St-Pierre. Speaking to UN News Centre at a high level forum in Dubai, UAE, about Space as a Driver for Socio-Economic Sustainable Development, Mr. St-Pierre explained how satellite technology can be used in emergency response to natural disasters, and the UN-SPIDER project during Nepal earthquake.
