General Assembly concludes unprecedented high-level debate
29 Sep 2020 -  The General Assembly’s 75th session was unlike any other in the history of the Organization as the COVID-19 pandemic forced safety measures which meant that heads of State and government as well as other leaders delivered speeches by pre-recorded video. The pandemic was a major theme, with many participants emphasizing that it demonstrated the interdependent nature of our world and the need for multilateral solutions. Toward that end, many pointed to the importance of making the best possible use of the United Nations to rise to the challenges ahead – not just on the health front but for climate action, peace, human rights and sustainable development.
