Countering and Preventing Violent Extremism Through Communications and Empowerment Strategies Involving Youth
28 Jun 2018 -  UN-CTED and UNAOC, on behalf of the CTITF Working Group on Communications chaired by UN DPI, are co-organizing a side-event at the margins of the United Nations High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States. The event is co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of Finland and Pakistan to the United Nations.
The side-event will provide an opportunity to share experiences and good practices by Member States, United Nations entities, and civil-society organizations in communicating with youth and youth-based organizations, in both on-line and off-line spaces, with a view to countering and preventing violent extremism. One of the primary objectives is to share good practices and experiences in developing communications initiatives to counter terrorist narratives and to strengthen youth resiliency.
