National Urban Forums - WUF10 (8-13 February 2020, Abu Dhabi, UAE)
11 Feb 2020 -  The objective of this session is to discuss achievements of National Multi-stakeholders platforms for inclusive urban policy formulation and review. The participation of different country experiences will allow exchanges and learn from different approaches to inclusive policy dialogue. The session will also discuss ways to consolidate information sharing towards the creation of an international network of National Urban Forums connected to the global equivalent.

The policy debate on sustainable urban development has been revived with a strengthened element of participation and inclusivity. Following Habitat III and the commitments made in the New Urban Agenda, a number of National Urban Forums and other multi-stakeholders platforms have been held to support implementation of sustainable urbanization at the national and sub-regional level.

At WUF9, the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on Cities 2030 called for supporting “the creation and consolidation of inclusive platforms and agendas for dialogue among all levels of government, decision makers and stakeholders such as regional, national and local Urban Forums and committees that can strengthen policy review and assessment of impacts.”

Since WUF9 several NUFs and similar platforms have met and consolidated in all regions to a variety of degrees. This event will share experiences and lessons from some of the many National and Sub-regional Urban Forums held around the world in the last few years.
