3 Dec 2020 -  Implementation of the CRPD requires an applied understanding of the policy environment and ecosystem that children interact with. This side event proposes a joint effort between several stakeholders highlighting promising practices and networks that have been developed in Canada to promote inclusive environments for children with disabilities.
The Government of Canada recently reported to the Convention on the Rights of Children and is working with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities to elaborate the List of Issues Prior to Reporting for the CRPD. A dynamic panel comprised of youth with disabilities, government officials, researchers, civil society leaders and family members will discuss the academic and practical domestic monitoring frameworks and considerations to operationalize the Bridge the Gap Indicators , avenues for a twin-track approach to the CRC and CRPD monitoring and steps Canada is taking to realize the CRPD for children with disabilities.
