Opening - Plenary Session, Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development 2019
2 May 2019 -  Welcome to the SDG Global Festival of Action!
This opening plenary session introduces you to the hosts and supporting partners of the event, gain insights into the political landscape currently surrounding the SDGs and inspire each and every Festival goer to harness the information, networks and opportunities at the Festival to create a real step-change for their own SDG actions.

Part 1: Opening Addresses
In this segment, the high-level speakers help to set the scence for the Festival, exploring the following critical questions:
- Why now? Why here? What do we hope to achieve?
- How can we keep the momentum for the SDGs, why is this important and what are the key milestones on the horizon ?

Part 2: Multi-stakeholder insights: What is at stake?
A panel of multi-sectoral leaders underline the need for advocacy, citizen engagement and a step-change in behaviour and political will to drive the action required to make the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development a reality.

Part 3: Inspirational address: There is no ceiling to ambition!
The session will close with a spoken word performance, 'rapping-up' the key messages and insights that were shared, and closing remarks will provide Festival-goers with their own 'to do' list to harness the full SDG Festival of Action experience over the coming days!

The SDG Global Festival of Action (2-4 May 2019 in Bonn, Germany) is a ground-breaking event powered by the UN SDG Action Campaign with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Federal Foreign Office and partners. The Festival is crowdsourced, designed BY the SDG Action community FOR the SDG Action Community. The Festival’s overall aim is to gather and inspire SDGs campaigners and multi-stakeholder partners to scale up and broaden the global movement to take action for the SDGs.
