UN aid official warns of 'critical' humanitarian situation as fighting escalates in Ukraine
14 Feb 2017 -  Ceasefire violations in Ukraine peaked during the past week, further exacerbating the already 'critical' humanitarian situation for nearly three million civilians in the country. Speaking to the press earlier today, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Neal Walker, said the conflict had increased human suffering, and destruction to the environment and civilian infrastructure. Mr. Walker also called for removal of heavy military weapons from civilian areas because this was encouraging more fighting and destruction of civilian infrastructure.
