World Food Programme receives the 'People’s Prize'
10 Dec 2020 -  The World Food Programme has received the Nobel Peace Prize. At an online ceremony named “The People’s Prize”, WFP Executive Director David Beasley said: “This Nobel Peace Prize is more than a thank you. It is a call to action..” In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, a Nobel Committee delegation travelled to WFP’s headquarters in Rome to confer the Peace Prize medal and certificate. The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian organization. WFP saves lives in emergencies and uses food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
