UN Web TV "Add Your Voice" series - The conflict in Syria goes on and around 1 million children are affected by the conflict inside Syria, and more than 100,000 Syrian children have been displaced to Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq according to UNICEF.
Opened just last week, the school in the Za'atari camp is already accommodating more than 2000 children. With more Syrians crossing the border into Jordan daily, the race is on to expand the school's capacity to 5000 pupils.
New child-friendly spaces in the camp are offering children a fun place to play, socialize and to get support to cope with distress caused by their experiences in Syria.
UNICEF is urgently scaling up its emergency response to reach hundreds of thousands of children with child protection, water, sanitation and hygiene, health and nutrition, and education initiatives. The European Union has donated four-point-six million Euros to increase UNICEF's education programs for Syrian refugee children. The new donation brings the EU's total contribution for education for Syrian refugees to 10 million Euros this year. UNICEF has appealed for US$91m for its operations.
