UNDSS’ Response During Beirut Attack
29 Sep 2020 -  On August 4, the unprecedented explosion in Beirut caused over 200 deaths, 6,500 injuries, and left an estimated 300,000 people homeless. Over 6532 UN staff members and their dependents are in Beirut – 109 of them have been affected by the explosion : 106 were injured and 3 lost their lives. Around 256 staff residences sustained minor to sever material damage. Those numbers would have been much higher without the swift response and heroic actions of our security colleagues.
