Tobacco control at the heart of preventing NCDs: the success story of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control
27 Sep 2018 -  Tobacco control has a pivotal role in the global effort to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases, as enshrined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), that entered into force in 2005, the world has a powerful tool to realize a tobacco and smoke free world.

This side event will inform on how the WHO FCTC can support countries in their national efforts on the one hand. On the other hand, light will be shed on innovative approaches in tobacco control that have not (yet) been included in the treaty.

This event is an initiative of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Secretariat of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
