Keeping the Peace in the Central African Republic
23 Oct 2017 -  12,870 Peacekeepers are currently serving in Central African Republic. Ethnic and religious tensions have caused widespread violence in CAR since 2013.
The UN has warned that ethnic fighting could descend into a much larger conflict. United Nations Peacekeepers first deployed to Central African Republic in 2014 to protect civilians.
