2016 Global Humanitarian Policy Forum - Meeting needs and reducing suffering: Humanitarian action from (GA) Resolution 46/182 to the present
25 years ago the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 46/182, which created the humanitarian system. The forum will provide an opportunity for high-level reflection on what has been enabled through 46/182 and how we prepare for the future.
The Forum, organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) will include two high-level panels.
1) One Humanity: Shared Responsibility - This high-level event will discuss progress made since the adoption of the resolution in 1991, and the outstanding challenges identified at the World Humanitarian Summit.
2) Changing lives – working differently to end need - This high-level panel will look at some of the follow-up actions from the World Humanitarian Summit. In particular it will focus on how to work together towards collective outcomes as the way to transcend humanitarian-development divides in contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
