Gambia: Reclaiming the Land
26 Feb 2013 -  In the Gambia, women often farm on degraded, unproductive land. The more fertile land is usually reserved for men. But things are changing. A government project supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD, is using simple technologies to reclaim swamplands. Now, women like Awa Jagne who once struggled to feed her children, reaps enough rice to support her family throughout the year.
