Parley Talks: Oceans. Climate. Life
29 Jun 2015 -  Parley is the space where creators, thinkers and leaders come together to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of our oceans and collaborate on projects that can end their destruction. Under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, 2015 is a critical year for the climate change negotiations. This December, the international community is expected to deliver a new, ambitious and universally binding agreement to protect present and future generations from the negative impacts of human activity on land and in the oceans. In order to keep the issue of climate change high on the agenda at this midway point between COP20 in Lima and COP1 Paris, the President of the General Assembly will convene a High-Level Event on Climate Change on June 29, 2015. On this occasion, the office of the President of the General Assembly will host Parley Talks and a UN x Parley Launch Party under the title “Oceans. Climate. Life.” in New York. Painter and film maker Julian Schnabel is contributing a series of large scale artworks to this Parley collaboration, which will be installed on the facade of the UN Headquarters on 45th St x 1st Ave. The Parley Talks will be broadcasted globally and live streamed.
