22 Jan 2015 -  H.E. Mr. Alvaro Mendonça e Moura, Acting President of the General Assembly opens the meeting. The opening segment also features a video message from H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General and a keynote speech by Mr. Bernard-Henri Levy, French philosopher and writer.

Hon. Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness (Canada), H.E. Harlem Desir, State Secretary for European Affairs (France), H.E. Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office (Germany), and H.E. Samantha Power, Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations and member of President Obama's Cabinet also deliver statements, along with Member States representatives.
