1 Dec 2017 -  The observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) provides an exceptional opportunity for all stakeholders to celebrate the leadership and contributions of persons with disabilities in society and development, and to explore innovative solutions to the challenges in the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol (CRPD) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Successful implementation requires effective and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities, and partnerships among Governments, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector.
