Ceremony Celebrating the Future Policy Award for 2013 on Disarmament
23 Oct 2013 -  The Future Policy Award is the only award that celebrates policies rather than people on an international level.
In 2013 the question was: Which existing disarmament policies contribute most effectively to the achievement of peace, sustainable development, and security?
The ceremony, held on 23 October 2013, presented the Silver Award to New Zealand's Nuclear Free Zone, Disarmament, and Arms Control Act of 1987 and Argentina's National Programme for the Voluntary Surrender of Firearms of 2006.
The Gold Award was presented to the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean, which opened for signature in 1967.
Colombian musician and peace activist César López performed as a special guest playing his famous Escopetarra, a decommissioned AK-47 converted into a guitar.
