Ahmed Shaheed - Situation of human rights in Iran - Press Conference
24 Oct 2013 -  The Special Rapporteur presented his third country report to the General Assembly during an interactive dialogue on 23 October. In this report he touches on various issues reported to him, including the rights to freedom of expression, association, and assembly; the rights of women and members of ethnic and religious minority groups; executions; and the potential impact of sanctions on the country’s human rights situation. Mr Shaheed has made several official requests to the Government of Iran for a country visit since his appointment in August 2011. He continues to call on the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran to collaborate with his United Nations Human Rights Council mandate with a view to cooperatively addressing the country’s human rights challenges.
