Strengthening commitments to prevent, respond, and protect against Sexual and Gender-based Violence in humanitarian crises
28 Sep 2020 -  The landmark EndSGBV conference in Oslo in May 2019 established a set of commitments and reinforced standards to prevent, respond, and protect against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in humanitarian crises, including conflicts, which feature some of the world’s highest SGBV rates.

As part of the 2020 United Nations General Assembly, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, and Somalia, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) will again host a high-level meeting on SGBV.

The event will (a) take stock of progress on SGBV commitments over the last year, including in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and (b) articulate near-term actions and accountability measures to ensure – from the first day of crisis – sufficient resources for strengthening SGBV prevention and response in humanitarian situations.
