The agenda was adopted without objection.
The President invited the representative of Libya to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure.
In accordance with rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure, the President invited Mr. Ghassan Salamé, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, to participate in the meeting.
The Council began its consideration of the item and heard a briefing by Mr. Salamé (via video-teleconference from Tripoli).
Statements were made by the representatives of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Kuwait, France, the United States, Equatorial Guinea, the Netherlands, Peru, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Poland, the Russian Federation, the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Kazakhstan, and by the President, speaking in his capacity as the representative of China.
The Council heard a statement by the representative of Libya.
