The agenda was adopted without objection.

The President invited the representative of Yemen to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure.

The President invited the following briefers to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure: Mr. Martin Griffiths, Special Envoy of the Secretary General for Yemen; Mr. Mark Lowcock, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator; Ms. Wafa’a Aisaidy, General Coordinator in Yemen of Médecins du Monde; and Ms. Raja Abdullah Ahmed Almasabi, Chairwoman, Arab Human Rights Foundation.

The Council began its consideration of the item and heard briefings by Mr. Griffiths (via video-teleconference from Geneva); Mr. Lowcock (via video-teleconference from New York); and by Ms. Aisaidy and Ms. Almasabi (via video-teleconference from Sana’a).

Statements were made by the representatives of the United Kingdom, the Niger, South Africa, the Russian Federation, Tunisia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Dominican Republic, France, Belgium, Indonesia, the United States, Estonia, Viet Nam, China, and by the President, speaking in his capacity as the representative of Germany.

The Council heard a statement by the representative of Yemen.

Ms. Aisaidy and Ms. Almasabi responded to comments and questions raised.
