UN chief underscores importance of "solid refugee protection in resettlement"
1 Feb 2017 -  UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called on the re-establishment of "solid refugee protection in resettlement" by the United States, in response to its recent policy on immigration, contained in an executive order. Speaking to journalists in New York today, the UN chief flagged the critical importance of resettlement as "a must" for refugee protection. Cautioning against the risk of spreading "anxiety and anger," Mr. Guterres urged that a country's border management measures should not be linked to any specific nationality, religion or ethnicity.
