UN flags three key areas to enhance protection of critical infrastructure against terrorist attacks
13 Feb 2017 -  UN Secretary-General António Guterres has underlined the need to strengthen protection of critical infrastructure against terrorist attacks - including transportation, energy facilities, financial services - so as "to safeguard the backbone of our modern society." The Secretary-General's remarks were read at a Security Council meeting by the UN Chef de Cabinet, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, who highlighted three key areas where the world body and its member states can improve cooperation and build the capacity to mitigate the vulnerability of those infrastructures.
