Terrorism, Rule of Law, and the role of Judges: Upholding Justice
10 Mar 2016 -  Open Briefing organized by the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) on "The effective adjudication of terrorism cases." The objective of the open briefing is to raise awareness of the main challenges faced by judges when adjudicating terrorism cases, highlighting the special role of Supreme Court Justices in strengthening States' capacities to bring terrorists to justice. Participants will include Associate Justice Stephen Breyer of the United States Supreme Court – the first time a sitting Supreme Court judge of the host country of the United Nations in New York visits the organization, as well as justices of Supreme Courts from numerous countries in Asia and the Middle East.
