G77 and Emerging Partners Ministerial Roundtable: "Addressing Technology-Facilitated Violence Against Women & Girls"
Technology and digital transformation are reshaping societies, economies and governance worldwide. While digital tools hold transformative potential for gender equality, they are simultaneously being used to perpetrate and amplify violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Technology facilitated violence against women and girls (TF VAWG)—including online
harassment, non-consensual intimate image abuse, doxing, cyberstalking and AI enabled abuse— continues to increase in scale, reach and severity as digital technologies rapidly evolve, with profound impacts on women and girls' safety, education, participation in public life, access to justice and economic empowerment.
Purpose of the roundtable
- Elevate TF VAWG as a critical challenge to gender equality, women's leadership, and
inclusive digital transformation. - Convene partners to exchange promising practices and lessons learned in preventing and responding to TF VAWG.
- Strengthen political commitment and foster strategic partnerships to advance coordinated, rights-based action to prevent and respond to TF VAWG.
Ministerial Roundtable, co-hosted by UN Women and the Republic of Croatia.
