Ms. Melissa Fleming, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications hosted the Ceremony. Supported by their children and family, survivor of the Holocaust Dumitru Miclescu (survived camps in Transnistria and is now resident in Romania) and Marianne Muller (survived deportations from Budapest and is now resident in Israel) shared their testimonies. They joined United Nations Secretary-General; the President of the 79th session of the General Assembly; the President of the State of Israel; the Chargée d'affairs a.i. of the United States to the United Nations; the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation and the Head of Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations. Lebensmelodien and Tovah Feldshuh performed educational and musical interventions. Holocaust survivor Beth Lane joined the lighting of memorial candles. Memorial prayers were recited.
