UN-Habitat Arena: Urban Resilience Recap - Key Takeaways from Wuf12 (World Urban Forum 12th Session)
The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. The twelfth session will take place in Cairo, Egypt, 4 - 8 November 2024.
Hosted by the City Resilience Global Programme (CRGP) by UN-Habitat, this event will provide a unique platform for reflecting on the state of urban resilience as addressed by the international community. The session will feature short interventions from the moderators of the various resilience-focused sessions, highlighting their key takeaways, major insights, and critical reflections. This will offer attendees a holistic understanding of the state of the art in urban resilience, identifying the most pressing challenges, innovative solutions, and collaborative opportunities presented during the forum.
In addition, this session will contribute directly to the creation and operationalization of the Human Settlements Resilience Framework, mandated by the UNHA2 Resolution 9, by summarizing key insights and lessons that will inform ongoing efforts to develop comprehensive, multi-stakeholder resilience strategies. These outcomes will feed into the broader discussions on urban resilience frameworks, ensuring that WUF12 serves as a critical milestone in building more resilient and sustainable cities.
