SDG Lounge - Are you ready for the future?

Education is a lifelong investment that allows people to grow, unlock their potential, and enter the workforce in pursuit of a better life. As the UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, "Education is intrinsic to the achievement of our common goals in sustainable development, peace and human rights."

Here's the backdrop: Despite the good news that global unemployment fell to a record low in 2023, gaps remain for women and youth. As Artificial Intelligence and other innovations arise, we need a push for skillbuilding and development to equip lifelong learners with the tools for career adaptability and ensure no one is left behind. 

Following the Transforming Education Summit in 2022 where over 140 countries committed to turning this crisis around, it's time to renew our commitment and grow interconnected solutions for learning, skills and strategies most valued in today's ever-changing digital job market. 

Education and decent work can have a domino effect of transformative possibilities for people to overcome poverty and inequalities that hold them back.

This September, the United Nations will host the Summit of the Future, a key moment to strengthen global cooperation and multilateralism for the challenges ahead. Running alongside this milestone moment during the High-Level Week of the 79th UN General Assembly, the SDG Lounge at UN Headquarters will be a vibrant space for #GrowingSolutions to accelerate action toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Convened by the United Nations Deputy Secretary General and hosted by the UN Office for Partnerships, from 20 – 26 September, the SDG Lounge will feature unscripted dialogues, deep dives into vital issues and host interactive experiences—all designed to keep the promise of the SDGs today, tomorrow and for future generations to come.
