Summary
Ahead of the annual Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security, the Permanent Missions of Colombia and Switzerland to the UN in New York together with the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) and the New York University Center for Global Affairs (NYU-CGA) are hosting a High-Level Policy Briefing on Women's Political Participation and the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security in Colombia.
Description
A specific focus will be put on the participation of women in the peace process in Colombia with the FARC-EP, the ongoing talks with the ELN, and the highly participatory process of the elaboration of the National Action Plan for the implementation of resolution 1325. This panel discussion will be an opportunity to learn about Colombia's advancements and innovations on WPS and how they have worked to increase women's political participation and inclusion in decision-making processes. It is also an opportunity to hear from different stakeholders how they will contribute to the expansion of the participatory approach and application of lessons learned from ongoing processes into the broader Total Peace Policy and future peace processes.
