To celebrate its 8 years of existence, the Boutros-Ghali Observatory on Peacekeeping is organizing its fourth seminar in New York on November 20, 2024, with the aim of deepening the knowledge of French-speaking troop- and police-contributing countries (TCC/Ps) and continuing the debate on the future of peacekeeping, particularly in its French-speaking dimension. The speakers, drawn from as many French-speaking countries as possible, will aim to identify avenues for action and concrete recommendations to promote the use of the French language (including by non-French-speaking countries), and to further enhance the capabilities and contribution of French-speaking TCC/Ps, both at UN headquarters and in the field. For example, the aim will be to take stock of existing cooperation tools, share lessons learned with a view to identifying and evaluating best practices, explore opportunities for pooling capacities and creating synergies for the promotion of the French language in PKOs, and strengthen the overall coherence of existing initiatives. This event has been made possible thanks to the support of the French Ministry of Defence's Directorate General for International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS). The event is also supported by the Permanent Mission of Senegal to the United Nations and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
