Summary
The SDG financing gap has grown to $4 trillion annually for developing countries, an increase of 56 percent since 2020. Debt servicing is crowding out critical development spending. The lack of fiscal space to invest in social spending and the massive investments needed for developing countries to transform their energy and digital systems to move into the green and AI revolution, is a recipe for a growing and worrying divergence. Despite these challenges, there are reasons for optimism.
