Leveraging technology and innovation to enhance the response to emergencies and humanitarian challenges (STI Forum Side Event)
To promote innovation in humanitarian action, the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, together with the World Food Programme and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), have launched the Humanitarian Innovation Accelerator Programme (HIA) which aims to support innovative, high-impact solutions that strive to solve emergency and humanitarian challenges faced in the humanitarian space while keeping the individual at the forefront of all interventions.
This side event, sponsored by the governments of Luxembourg, Austria, Senegal and the World Food Programme aims to showcase the HIA as an example of how to mobilize technology-based solutions in humanitarian contexts and as a best practice on how to recognize the role of local and national actors in improving the relevance as well as effectiveness of humanitarian response. It will feature testimonies of ventures and solution-providers selected by the programme, in the areas of earth observation, health technologies and telemedicine, and data governance for anticipatory action.
