H.E. Ms. Lachezara Stoeva, President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will brief the press on the upcoming High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, to be held on 10 – 19 July 2023.
Description
The deliberations are informed by two key reports: the 2023 Global Sustainable
Development Report and the Special Edition of the Secretary-General’s SDG Progress
Report. The 2023 GSDR focuses on interventions that show promise to accelerate SDG
progress through key entry points at different stages of transformation. The Secretary General’s SDG Progress Report provides the latest measurement of SDG progress using the Global Indicator Framework.
A range of other inputs will also inform the HLPF, among them the synthesis of inputs
from ECOSOC functional commissions and other bodies, the Secretary-General’s report
on the HLPF and ECOSOC theme, and the Secretary-General’s report on future trends and
scenarios of the SDGs.
There will also be discussion of countries in special situations, including SIDS, Africa, LDCs, LLDCs, and MICs. Our programme also includes sessions on local and regional actions. We will hear the important viewpoints of the major groups and other stakeholders on their priority actions for inclusive transformations.
