Women do not stop giving birth, and risks of gender-based violence increase during conflicts and disasters. Climate change and COVID-19 have made matters worse with rising gender-based violence, disruptions in access to sexual and reproductive health services, and increased mental health needs. In response to these crises, UNFPA's lifesaving work is more important than ever.
UNFPA is launching its Humanitarian Action 2022 Overview at a virtual event to raise awareness and support to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights, prevention and response to gender-based violence, and mental health and psychosocial support. It is time to prioritise the needs and rights of women and girls in humanitarian crises!
In 2022, UNFPA is appealing for more than $800 million to reach millions of women, girls and young people in 61 crisis-affected countries.
