Description

This colonial question has been, since 1972, under consideration by the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples (C-24).

Objectives:

  • To raise awareness about the question of Puerto Rico and foster a better understanding of this colonial question.
  • To foster greater solidarity with the people of Puerto Rico, including by providing relevant information to Member States, in order to promote their participation on discussions related to this colonial question.
  • To update Member States on the latest political developments in Puerto Rico and its implications for efforts aimed at ensuring the realization of the inalienable right to self-determination.
