On March 27 and 28, 2025, at the "Nutrition for Growth" (N4G) Summit organized by France, the international community made ambitious commitments to meet the challenge of malnutrition in all its forms. More than 400 commitments amounting to more than 28 billion dollars were pledged to nutrition in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, testifying to an exceptional level of mobilization and a renewed commitment to multilateralism.

Good nutrition enables everyone to reach their full potential. Yet all countries are confronted with at least one form of malnutrition, the cost of which to the global economy is estimated at 41,000 billion dollars over the next decade. In an uncertain international context, the Summit has put nutrition back at the heart of public policy. By investing in nutrition, stakeholders have chosen to promote policies with a positive impact on health, social protection, gender equality, the sustainability of food systems, climate and education.

This summit follows the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly, with over 100 co-sponsors, of a resolution extending the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition to 2030. This resolution, co-facilitated by Brazil and France, supports the political impetus at all levels to eradicate all forms of malnutrition, in line with the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

As we approach the second review of the United Nations Food Systems Summit, UNFSS+4, to be held from July 28 to 30, 2025, in Addis Ababa, and the major international deadlines for 2025 (FFd4, UNOC3, the World Social Summit 2025, the school feeding coalition meeting in Brazil and the COP30 climate summit in Belem), it is essential to maintain a positive dynamic of monitoring and evaluation of the commitments made. The aim of this meeting in New York will be to take stock of these commitments and prepare the ground for the upcoming deadlines.
